The decisive difference does not occur at a constant speed – but precisely in those moments when you accelerate. At just 1,040 g, the Maßstab SL reduces rotating mass exactly where it has a direct impact on handling: under acceleration, on climbs and with every change of pace. The result is not an abstract feeling of lightness, but an immediate response from the bike: Your power is translated more directly into forward motion – without the feeling of having to accelerate additional mass.

By the way, you can find a great review of the wheelset by Speed-Ville Magazine -> here!

  • Instant response under every acceleration
  • Reduced inertia on climbs and out of corners
  • More efficiency from every watt you put in

Lightweight construction only makes sense if it works in the real world

The Maßstab SL was developed to reduce weight without compromising everyday usability and long-term reliability. The goal was not simply to achieve an impressive laboratory figure, but to create a wheelset that feels noticeably faster and more responsive in real-world riding conditions. Developed for riders who not only want to save weight, but also experience more dynamics on the road, on allroad routes and on gravel rides.

Low weight meets versatility

With its 26 mm rim, 24 mm internal width and modern geometry, the Maßstab SL provides the ideal platform for a wide range of applications – from fast road bikes to performance-oriented gravel bikes. The asymmetric rim design ensures more balanced spoke tension and high stability under load. The result is a lightweight, responsive and at the same time controlled riding experience.

Semi-Hook instead of Hookless

All BikeBeat road and gravel rims deliberately use a Semi-Hook construction instead of Hookless technology. This allows traditional clincher tires with inner tubes to be used just as safely as modern tubeless setups. The result: maximum compatibility and additional safety for everyday riding and under demanding conditions.

Steel spokes by deliberate choice

The Maßstab SL uses high-quality SAPIM CX Ray and CX Sprint steel spokes – deliberately not carbon spokes. The advantage becomes clear in practice: they are available worldwide, easy to replace and can be re-trued without any complications at any time. A lightweight wheelset does not need to be complicated – it needs to work.

BikeBeat SuperLight hubs – developed for long-term performance

At the heart of the wheelset are the BikeBeat SuperLight Ratchet Straightpull hubs – developed for low maintenance and long-term durability. All bearings used are standardized and can be replaced at any time – either through us or through almost any specialist bike shop. This reduces downtime and ensures a system that remains serviceable for the long term.

Built for riders – not for compromises

The Maßstab SL combines low weight with everyday usability and outstanding versatility. Whether Road, Allroad or Gravel – the combination of low weight, direct acceleration and reliable system design makes it an upgrade you can feel from the very first meter.

Performance that needs no explanation

Sometimes just a few hundred grams are enough to completely change the way a bike responds. Here, 1,040 grams is not simply a number on a specification sheet – it is a difference you can feel with every acceleration. MSRP: €1,999.00 – Maßstab SL
