There are so many reviews that only offer a superficial glimpse of the product: Our former professional road cyclist, Raphael Otto, has taken a really close look at your products: Thanks, Raphael!
Here’s what the test revealed!
Below, I’ve summarized a few points:
1. Hub: 10/10 points
a. No play
b. Silky smooth
c. Very smooth running
d. Excellent sealing
e. Very good surface that is easy to clean and doesn’t attract dirt
2. Freewheel: 10/10 points
a. Very smooth running
b. Nice and loud, you don’t even need a bell!
3. Rims: 10/10 points
a. Absolutely suitable for all conditions, uphill and downhill!
b. The wheels are hardly affected by crosswinds, especially in windy or windy conditions.
c. I can’t measure ANY aerodynamic disadvantage with my power meter compared to my 2019 DT Swiss DiCut wheelset!
I rode the same test route on the same day, in both directions, without traffic… The wheels are equally fast!
d. After several thousand kilometers in all weather conditions, I can’t detect any wear on the sidewalls.
e. Tire changes: Flawless. Both Conti and Veloflex tires fit perfectly – not too easily and not too tightly.
f. Still NO lateral or radial runout detectable. At 83 kg, I’m not the lightest rider, and the power outputs I recorded recently were also fine.
Incidentally, I finished 2nd overall in the race in Meiningen with your wheelset!
4. Spokes 10/10
a. The nipples are concealed, which naturally contributes to better aerodynamics and a clean look.
b. I would like a set with silver spokes.
5. Weight
a. VR: Unfortunately, I can no longer compare them as the LW front wheel was destroyed in a crash.
b. HR vs. LW: +75 grams
i. That’s nothing!
6. Quick-release skewers: 10/10 points
a. Absolutely fine
b. Very light
c. Identical to the LW quick-release skewers
7. Braking performance: 10/10 points
a. On my Cervelo R5, the problem is that the strong braking power causes the rear triangle to “rock” and vibrate!
The thin chainstays can’t handle the heavy braking force and start to vibrate.
This problem doesn’t exist on my Pinarello Dogma F10.
b. Braking performance is excellent in wet/rainy conditions.
8. Appearance: 10/10 points
a. Of course, this is subjective, but I like the simple design.
b. The wheels are very easy to clean with dish soap; there’s no surface that’s prone to dirt buildup.
Conclusion: 100% recommended.

THANK YOU BikeBeat, thank you Philipp Schön. From the initial contact with BikeBeat to delivery, everything was TOP-NOTCH. The “Überflieger” wheels accompanied me on my test rides. Conclusion: A permanent grin on my face!!! Compared to the Zipp 404 and the DT Swiss ARC 1400, the Überflieger wheels have nothing to hide, quite the opposite. The look is fantastic, the rim depth is just right, even for hilly rides. Straight-line stability is superb, the weight is amazing… The price-performance ratio is brilliant. 10 out of 10 points, 5 out of 5 stars. A definite boost of motivation for the 2025 season.
